Acknowledgements   &   THANKS AGAIN ! !

"Thanks" and Animated Horses and Shopping Cart created by ANIMFACTORY . COM

Much is owed to the book, "The Itinerary of  General George Washington - 1775-1783" published in the 1890s by William S. Baker.

Other thanks to local historians Kemper Chambers and John Pinkman
and the Visitor's Center of Morris County at Morristown

Thanks go to those who devote volunteer-time to seeing  that the good traditions of our country are remembered.

John R. Vilven
and Jean Johnson  gave  and still give many weekends (he since 1976!) to "reenactments" of the Revolutionary War    scenes with the "Lambs Artillery" - they know the roar of cannons!

You may meet them on a tour of Morristown  from the Visitors Center at 6 Court Street (973 - 631-5151), which was promoted and headed by  Selma Sachs, Rita Bakos and Leslie Bensley, etc..

Also, a salute goes to Michael Henderson, Clark Dixon, Jr., Sharon M. Reider, park ranger Eric Olsen, and to Joni Rowe, Malcolm Dick, Joseph Howell, Mike Banick, Dave Vetchioli, and Richard Simon, Barbara Mitnick of Washington's Headquarters on Morris Avenue or Historic Speedwell.

Also, praise goes to past or present officers, Clifford W. Starrett, Robert Fredericks, etc. of the Washington Association of New Jersey.

For now, I'll retain all rights to this document, while it is being developed and made bug and bad syntax free - while I'm lucent!  I shall submit this to C-SPAN presidential contest - to see if it can be used with school systems across America. If no other arrangement is first made, upon my "passing", I intend that these web sites, morristown . org and revwar . org,  be given to The Washington Association of New Jersey.

. . .

Much praise goes to the Morristown and Morris Township Joint Free Library

Please do not call it "The Joint."  It is down the street from "The Bakerié'", "The Office" and "The Filling Station Restaurant" - and "The Book Store."

My interest began when I was doing a bit of my wife's genealogy.  It is then that I discovered a book, which showed that George Washington had been in Morristown more than the usual two times mentioned locally.  So, I developed a hobby.  And with this document, I wanted to "take you along" (on horseback, if it was possible) to the many, many, many sites to which GW traveled.  As it turned out, his travels benefited all of us!

Thanks goes to George Washington for George Washington's own diary writings
edited by John C. Fitzpatrick as published in 1925 by the terrific
Mount Vernon Ladies' Association of the Union which preserved and published much about GW's early life.

"Hickok" links give much interest to those looking for sports information, including Olympic sports.

Such was studied, upgraded and again written by the University Press of Virginia in 1976 - edited by Donald Jackson and Dorothy Twohig with manuscripts from the Library of Congress and the National Archives.

We also took glances at general readings and the wonderful Chronicle of America. Though it was "out of print", I wished that every kid had this book in his or her house !  It is laid out to look like a colorful Newspaper. Look for it in the reference center in your public library.

I enjoyed peeks at The World of George Washington  by  Richard M. Ketchum published in 1974.  It is a wonderful "large book."

We reference colored pictures at Links to various locations, such as the fabulous ushistory.org; the links are maintained by others - and are much appreciated.

Someday, we shall have maps per year and clips of paintings of the heros.  I would like to do artwork to show GW as an action-man, which he was !

I have recently discovered www . revwar . com  (started in about 1996) -   Visit there, everyone liked Mike's Meal's dog as well as the great links to RevWar , DAR and SAR sites.

"The American Nation - A History of the United States" has excellently written stories of U.S.A. History.  Their Visual Maps are linked from here from HI-STORY (on page 1) ... an elsewhere where significant.

Thanks to Captain Robert V. Gerenser, also known as "Captain Bob" of the modern Coryell's Ferry and Gerenser's Exotic Ice Cream fame - of New Hope, Pa. Their Coryell's Ferry Militia recreate the Christmas Day (night) Monroe Crossing on the Saturday closest to the week before Christmas at Washington's Crossing State Park.  Reenactors and the public may take part in the event (215) 862-2050 . . .Coryell's Ferry Militia, 22 South Main Street, New Hope, PA  18938.  Bob created a walking tour of historic New Hope.

Morristown.org hopes that Revwar.com (by Mike Meals) will be the site you click to first when looking for RevWar information on New England, Canada, Upstate New York, etc. and links to DAR and SAR information sites, etc.

This site, Morristown.org or www. Revwar. ORG  concentrates on the mid-Atlantic states, where the enemies sparred  with each other for so many years.

Here, we give some clues for designing your own daytrips from Morristown to see various GW headquarters within an hour or three distance.

I often have used "Cooper Md Bt" font from Frontpage-2000, and Snowdrift, too; however, servers often substitute.  I hope that they use a bold enough substitute font - to compete with this  parchment-like background.

Visit here several times to read of the years - - - 1775, 6, 7, 8, 9,   1780, 1, 2, 3, etc.

You may suggest corrections by contacting me via my "GUEST BOOK."

Such proposals would be collected, judged and studied before correction.
It will take a bit of time.

About this on-going effort :  morristown.org  and  revwar.org

Such income from referrals, or possible income from an Advertisement (if contracted) will be reported and  will go to Morristown.org to pay  expenses  of ongoing web-site costs

  1. domain name costs for Revwar.org and Morristown.org,
  2. Web Hosting costs,
  3. Monthly costs (was PO Box)
  4. Related phone charges, cost of updates,
  5. local PC-related costs, and development costs).
  6. PC and peripheral  replacement costs

It may also go toward writing and promotion of additional  realistic and patriotic history related to George Washington, to our cherished independence, and to other hero-types in American History.  This would include the payout of funds to assist in restoring and possibly maintaining neglected old Revolutionary War - GW Headquarter sites (such as the Doremus House in Montville).

Morristown.org wants to promote similar "day tour" web sites from Mount Vernon and Boston - another web site, RevWar.com is a good starting point for Boston, New England, Ticonderoga, Montreal and Quebec.

If funds are received, a small expense-related salary for one person would be allowed  and reported, not to exceed 1/2 the Average Pay for a NJ-NY Webmaster - per year.  Morristown.org wants to keep the advertisements displayed here - down to a mild roar.

Income or contributions could be used for improvements, redesign and publication with pictures into book-form - a possible goal to make some of this material available to young children and libraries - in honor of those who gave their lives, and in honor of George Washington.

This writing is also a salute to the Free'd Black soldiers (400 - 600 marched down Western Avenue to Jockey Hollow) and to the Rhode Island Brigade of Free'd Black soldiers of Revolutionary War Days.  (Info: thanks to John R. Vilven )!

Local restaurants which are named for a revolutionary war theme may also advertise here.  We shall provide mention of them, here.

Amazon.com books on the Revolutionary War and other war and peace motivated books may be advertised here, too - after an agreement is arranged.
