A DAH  is held about three times as long as  a DIT.  

A silence as long as one DIT separates PARTS OF A CHARACTER.

A silence as long as three DITs separates LETTERS.

A silence as long as seven DITs separates WORDS.

The above is possible with much practice !

In 1999, rules were set to allow discontinuation of the use of this code.  Many protested.  I believe that many ham radio operators will continue to use the code.  It has saved many lives !                       RETURN TO HOME PAGE   index.shtml
