(on the right) in a large forest reserve.

Our house is now a  "Bed and Breakfast"  named for its view of "Mt. Sopris & "Avalanche Mtn." 

            Roy Hungerford, our neighbor had Banny Chickens !

   AVALANCHE RANCH   <== click OUR HOME was with 160 acres was
 
west of  both "Maroon Bells' mountain and "AVALANCHE" MOUNTAIN ... and west of ASPEN, COLORADO  [40 miles away via highway].  
It is S.W. of the 13,000+ foot tall 
"MOUNT SOPRIS."  

The ranch is located 5 miles north  of Redstone, CO, home of the Redstone Inn. 
and
is 12-1/2 miles  south of the nearest school at Carbondale, CO .  

The Osgood Mansion at Redstone, Colo. entertained the Belgium King. The OSGOOD Mansion

& Redstone Inn => There is a grand piano and player in tux - for dinner at the INN.

 Did I live near Aspen?   SKIING   Yes, dear ! MY DAD  was building Liberty and Victory Ships in Richmond, CA.

President Truman spoke from the steps here in 1948.Hoff-Schroeder Basement Cafeteria - Welton St. at 16th.
In 1948 Aron and I skipped school to hear President Truman's speech from the Capitol steps.

Remington Rand in1950 was on Arapahoe Street at the sign "BILLIARDS" - before moving to Colfax Ave.

Cathedral - Capitol - Am. Baptist - Municipal Building - and the MINT! 
 One dark night in 1948, in a 1940 Ford Sedan, Aron, Esther, TC and Jeannette were lightly "beaned" by a drunken driver at this corner.

Hangout: The Pig Parlor was at Colfax and Lipan Streets.  We could afford Lettuce and Tomato sandwiches and coffee.
Was coffee 5 cents?
Songs in the juke box cost 5 cents !  Juke Box Songs 5 cents!
                           Where have the "Car Hops" (waitresses of yesteryear) gone ?  

VJ Sunken Garden and West High School. DAY
Car rooftops were overloaded with cheering young folks !  There was much evidence of lipstick; I did not fall off !

Graduation - June 1949 . . .  
Graduation took place at "the City Auditorium - Sports Arena in downtown Denver." 
My diploma was blank until I later paid my tuition

Larry McGreevy and I adventured to OAKLAND, SF and EMERYVILLE,  CALIFORNIA - then  back to Denver: where I worked at Kistler Stationery Co. & 
The Denver Post.

They owe me bus fare !
I turned down a job as "busboy" at the The CHAT and CHEW Restaurant.  
I might have accepted "waiter," but not "busboy" on that day!
