The text stated below was memorized by most American children of
years ago and is the original written by
Joyce Kilmer.
He lived on
Olyphant Drive and taught at the old high
school on Maple Avenue in
Morristown.
He was killed in the 2nd Battle of the Marne in 1918.
-
I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.
-
A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
-
Against the earth's sweet flowing breast;
-
A tree that looks at God all day,
-
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
-
A tree that may in summer wear
-
A nest of robins in her hair;
-
Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
-
Who intimately lives with rain.
-
Poems are made by fools like me,
-
But only God can make a tree.

Morris Frank, a college student in
Tennessee in 1927, wrote to Mrs. Eustis asking her for
his training in Switzerland.
He promised to pass on the knowledge.
Morris traveled around the USA showing how Buddy brought
independence to the blind.
His school began with seventeen blind in 1929. He
moved to Whippany in 1931 and later
to Morris Township.
He lived in Morristown for about 50 years and ran a successful

they had not signed our loyalty oath, but they had signed a
British loyalty oath earlier.
